Appliance Repair Technician

This all-inclusive appliance repair training program equips students with the skills to service modern home appliances safely and effectively. Students gain strong foundations in electrical and gas systems, refrigeration principles, diagnostic techniques, and hands-on troubleshooting. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for EPA 608 certification and real-world success in appliance repair roles. Students will apply theory through interactive simulations and optional hands-on labs, covering appliances such as dryers, refrigerators, washers, dishwashers, cooktops, and microwaves. Virtual Reality modules reinforce safe handling of electricity and appliance components.

Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

  • Understand electrical fundamentals and safe testing procedures
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and circuit behavior (series, parallel, complex)
  • Diagnose and service major appliances including washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and microwaves
  • Identify and resolve common issues in gas-powered and electric appliances
  • Practice ethical, customer-first repair strategies
  • Demonstrate safe recovery, brazing, and EPA-compliant refrigerant handling
  • Pass the EPA Section 608 certification exam
  • Develop safety awareness through OSHA 30 training
